Below are some helpful hints to remember when you come to the Department of Hematology & Oncology for appointments.

  • Bring a list of your current medications to all of your physician visits. The list should include vitamins, herbs, over-the-counter remedies and other health supplements, as well as your physician-prescribed medications.

  • Please allow a 24-hour turnaround time for calls regarding lab or X-ray results, a lab or X-ray requisition slip, or a prescription refill. A member of your health care team will return your requested call.

  • Please bring your insurance card with you and be prepared to pay your mandatory insurance co-payment prior to each physician visit. If you are receiving care in Hematology & Oncology, you may be billed for your co-payments.

  • It is very important that you tell us immediately if you change insurance so you don't receive a bill for covered services. For a list of current accepted insurance plans see (link to insurance part of web site). If you have questions regarding your bills, please contact the business office by phone at 408-481-0440. You may also talk directly with a representative from the business office located in the main lobby of 301 Old San Francisco Road, Monday through Friday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Please call as soon as you have a question or a problem. Please don't wait until the end of the day to call if you are feeling ill.

  • When you call Hematology & Oncology, be ready to provide your Camino Medical Group chart number, the name of your physician and a phone number so we can return your call. If you require a prescription, also have your pharmacy name and number available. The nurses receive all of the messages and review them. We will return your call as quickly as possible. Please do not make repeated phone calls. We ask your patience for non-emergent phone calls. Emergency calls - patients with extreme pain, fever, shortness of breath, bleeding or seizures, for example - will take priority.
Please Note: Hematology & Oncology will only see patients with scheduled appointments; we do not serve patients on a walk-in basis.
